I can now say the garden re-works have now been done. Apart from the usual pruning and tidying the garden needs throught the year, no more major works are planned. The wooden raised beds and the shed has had a good coat of Danish Oil to protect it even more from the elements, fence had been treated again, slabs jet washed and cleaned, and rubbish and builders tools and equipment has been removed.
New plants and shrubs have been planted in good time for them to gather their roots and settle in for the winter, ready for them to flourish next year. I am hoping to take some photo's over the weekend, weather permitting for my photo diary on this site. My new mobile planter. The planter structure was custom made by Harlow Timber in Kidderminster. I then purchased a trellace (from Harlow's) and screwed it on the back, and some sturdy trolley wheels. The passion flower and Dead Nettles now have a home.
I had a good clean and tidy of the shed and garden today. All the old and surplus pots have been skipped. Just waiting for the builder to move some of his equipment from the garden, and I can finally say 'it's done', after a couple more small jobs, of course !
Just a few small jobs left to do now and then I can sit back and watch the garden grow!
I finally finished the large raised bed off on Saturday. New chunky smooth timber fitted to the top, and the log cladding completed for the sides. The large net cage at the back needs a few adjustments though, and I plan to do this in a few weeks when I get a week off. I'll update with some more photo's during that week.
The slabbing was completed today, and the charcoal mortar filled in between the slabs. Martyn collected my new custom made planter from Harlow Timber, ready for planting up my Passion Flower over the weekend. The planter is quite sturdy, so I think I'll have to pop some trolley wheels on it before planting up, otherwise we won't be able to move it !
Jack is starting on the slabbing today. We eventially decided on natural Indian Stone, but in black/blue to add contrast to the garden. I know they are genuine items, as the pallets still had the shipping tags on them from India !
Works on the new extention are coming to a close soon, so once finished, the new slabs will be laid, and I can get my beans and veg in the garden ready for a bumper crop.
