Building works on the house extension have started now. We are hoping that Bob will be able to return in 4-6 weeks to lay the new slabs for the patio, and around the side of the house. I will update as soon as something new happens !
Tony came round today to help me lay the coping stones on top of the wall, and level the soil out behind the new wall, and tidy the slate. We also managed to pop in some new plants which should be suited to the dry shade in which they are now located. Bob came round today to build the replacement retaining wall (not the coping stones though) which will run up the garden, and blend in with the new level of the patio area's. Now the conservatory has gone, Bob from Landscapes by design has been around to level the patio area (removing some of the slight slope), in preperation for the new slabs to be installed, after the extension (where the conservatory was) has been completed. The old slabs have been put down as a temporary measure to avoid damge to the new slabs from the building work. The windows in the cabin were fitted today. The old ones were only temporary windows. The new ones are BS7950 double glazed upvc windows with an Irish Oak finish. The certainly keep the cabin warner, and I think that it just finishes it off nicely. The garden is still not complete at this time. Within the next few months we are having some building works done at the back of the property, so it would be silly to get the garden done before this has been completed. Once the new building works have been done the central bed will be fully completed, as the levels of the slabs will be changing very slightly, as will the slabs themselves, along with the small retaining wall along the right of the garden.
The rockery has been replanted, but we have refrained from putting the coloured gravel on, just incase any of the plants don't take, as they were out of the ground for quite a while. Finally got round to taking a few photo's today. These are the new raised beds which will be for my runner beans and cucumbers. The plants on the top are there for temporary storage Bob finished building the two rear raised beds today. He's lined them with membrane and filled with top soil so they are ready to go. No photo's as yet, as it was too dark. Will update when light allows, probably Saturday when I have another tidy up !
Bob dropped off the raised beds bases today. He will be popping back tomorrow to build the timer structure and then apply the log cladding.
