Tomato Fertiliser
I always feed my fruiting plants with tomato fertiliser as they come into flower. Flowering is boosted and of course I get better fruit yields too. Tomato feeds are high in potash and this will help many plants -edible and ornamental - to flower and fruit heavily.
All plant fertilisers contain at least one of the major plant foods, to help with root, stem and leaf, or flower and fruit production. As long as each plant receives enough of each nutrient at different stages of growth they should put on a decent show.
But for better displays, high potash levels should be maintained at both the flowering and fruiting stages to ensure healthy growth.
Although tomato feed is designed for use on tomatoes, it isn't just these plants it can be used on. All flowering plants and fruiting crops will benefit from high potash feed too.
There are lots of tomato feeds available. I allways use Levington's Tomorite and i'm happy with the results I get. However, there are others available; Westland Nutri Tomato Feed, Maxicrop Extra Tomato Food and Growing Success Organic Tomato and Cucumber Fertiliser to name but a few.

Fruit & Vegetables
Obviously Tomatoes fall into this category, however most fruiting crops can benefit from a feed when they start developing flowers, but not before this point. lf you feed your plants with a high-potash feed while they are still establishing themselves (putting on good root and foliage growth) you will encourage them to start flowering too soon, and the crops won't be as good as they could be.
Ornamental Plants
Tomato feed isn't just for fruit and vegetables. lt can be very useful in promoting good flowering from a host of ornamental plants. But there is an extra benefit for ornamentals - it can bevery useful in hardening and toughening softer-stemmed tender perennials and bedding. This in turn should make for stronger, healthier top growth. When first feeding, apply at half the recommended rate, increasing over a couple of weeks.
Leafy & Root Vegetables
Be careful not to feed your leafy or root vegetables with tomato feed as it will encourage them to 'bolt' (set flower and seeds) rather than produce good crops. Use high-nitrogen feeds for leafy greens and super phosphate for root vegetables.
Clematis
It is possible to get more flowers and bigger blooms when feeding Clematis with tomato fertiliser but there is a sacrifice to me made. High potash levels have been found to reduce the flowering period despite the positive effect on flower size.
